Canaan Ranch began in 1972. In the beginning we raised sheep in an area with many coyotes - so we became sheep herders to keep the sheep on the move and protected from the coyotes. We tried many horses and found that the only breed that would keep up with our demanding job was the Arabian Horse. The Arabians endurance was incredible. . |
|
The late Floyd Payne took us under his guidance and taught us about the Polish Arabian Horse and what traits and breeding to look for, we bought a few mares from him, and one out of Canada along with our first Stallion RH Gay Dana, a Grandson of Bask, by then the passion for the Arabian Horse flowed in our veins |
|
On the ranch we rode all of the mares and the stallion herding sheep for 8 years, finally the coyotes won and we switched to raising cattle. The ranch roundups were great, our Arabian Horses with plenty of endurance gave us all they had and then some. |
For the last 20 years we have been a therapeutic boys home. The most therapeutic animal on the ranch has been the Arabian Horse. Working with the horses helped build the boys self esteem and once they rode the hiking was over.
We have retired from the boys home, and now have a Guest Ranch with cozy cabins, We still raise beautiful Polish Arabian Horses a passion that has endured over 30 years. |

Canaan Ranch is at 3500 ft elevation, the mountain air, and terrain along with the high in mineral content in the soil helps to make our Polish Arabians great endurance horses with good lungs and feet.
Our Arabian Horses roam 500 acres freely -- the beauty of watching the unity of the herd run together is phenomenal
We invite you to the ranch to see the Arabian Horses we have for sale, and to enjoy the wonderful place we call home. |
